Stomach Upset And Constipation Can Be Treated With The Help Of Carbonated Water
Posted by admin - 15/05/09 at 10:05 pmIndigestion produces symptoms such as pain in the upper abdomen, a sense of having eaten too much, as well as a feeling of, nausea, and often vomiting. Of people living in societies in the West, about 25% of them have upset stomachs at least once each year and these symptoms account for about 5% of all the visits to primary care physicians. Indigestion is often caused by inadequate movement in the digestive tract.Symptoms of upset stomachs include irritable bowel disease as well as constipation.
Antacid medications which are over the counter neutralizers of stomach acids, medications that stimulate movement and prescription that block production of stomach acids are normal treatments for stomach problems. But in recent times experts are beginning to believe that antacids interfere with digestion and body’s absorbing of nutrients. Some studies have even suggested a relationship between long-term use of the acid-blockers and a risk of stomach cancer. Most physicians first advise diet changes, reduced fat intake, eating smaller and more frequent meals, and abstaining from foods that cause the problem to deteriorate. Smokers are advised to quit.Drink more water and consume fiber to cure constipation. Some doctors prescribe use of laxative medicines, while other doctors may ask to test for allergies and improper balances in normal colon bacteria and treating these to stop constipation.
There has been a recent study which compared carbonate water and tap water for its effect on indigestion, constipation, and other digestive problems. And the test results showed that carbonate water helpful in reducing upset stomach symptoms and problems.
Carbonate water has been used since ancient times as a treatment for stomach problems but there has been very little scientific research to support how effective carbonate wateris. This study shows that carbonate water had more carbon dioxide than the tap water, but was found to have much higher levels of minerals including sodium as well as other minerals. These minerals as well as the bubbles stimulate better digestive tract movement as some other studies say.
But, additional studies of carbonate water are needed to understand how the bubbles and the minerals help with digestion problems. But I do know that when I take water and baking soda for an upset stomach, it takes care of my problems fairly easily.
